The Reality of Our Own Creation
We are all live in the reality of our own self-made world. I live in my world based on my own version of reality. My reality is based on the perception collected from my senses and filtered through my past experiences.
Existing in the present, I am the product of my past. As I live in my present, my thoughts, choices and actions simultaneously shape my future. The present, the past, and the future are intimately interconnected. Recognizing the present reality, as it truly is, requires an inner neutrality and clarity. Returning to the inner clarity and lucidity shall negate the collective past bias and subjectivity. Living in the present, with a state of mind free from bias and untainted by life-smarts, and approaching life with an open heart filled with compassion shall shape the future.
It is by recognizing our own subjectivity and altering our reaction to the present circumstances that we can negate Karma and cease its impact and further propagation.
There is only one actuality...one true Reality. Yet, we all see that absolute Reality differently. We each see our life reality through our own color-tinted lenses and filtered, distilled, and refined by our past experiences and bias. The absolute Reality is seen and interpreted differently by each individual viewed through his/her own personal filters. We all begin our present Karmic life with a customized, individualized baggage, shaped by our past existences, life-smarts, and experiences. We are not only the product of our past, but our past experiences continue to shape our present and ultimately our future. We are confined by the limitations of our senses and the data we collect for our memory storehouse contains this constraint.
Instead of living in the reality created by our own mind, we must merge into the actual life Reality by existing at neutrality. We must not interpret nor react to life circumstances using our empiric consciousness, for doing so we intentionally or inadvertently create additional seeds that further entangle us to the Karmic circle. By returning to our Inner Light, we can attain an unwavering inner peace and ultimately transcend the Karmic life cycle to reach our Nirvana.
As Karmic citizens of this world, we are the entity of our personal stream of consciousness.
It is inaccurate to think that we begin as a blank slate at the beginning of each new lifetime. We come into each life with a conscious parcel containing our collective memories, bias, and experience from all our previous lifetimes. Our individual life smarts and discriminating intellect are based on life learning, experience, and data collected within the limitations of the senses. We synthesize our decisions and make our choices based on pasts bias and data collected in our conscious storehouse.
“Live Die Repeat.” This is the tag line of the “Edge of Tomorrow” movie that I had watched. In the movie, our hero repeatedly relive a loop of his life until he is finally able to overcome the obstacles to completing his life mission before moving onward to a new life path. As our hero begin to recognize a repeating reality, he begins to change the way he faces the challenges and ultimately defeat the enemy and save mankind.
“Live Die Repeat.” is true of real life. For all of us, a lifetime basically consists of birth, aging, decline and death, then repeat. Like our hero in the movie, we have our individual residual memories and life intellect that we collected in our previous lives at our disposal to call upon as we exist in each new present. We repeat the Karmic life cycle continuously over different lifetimes and collectively amass new life-smarts and experiences to formulate our own afflicted intellectual consciousness. The layers of our life smarts and life conscious become cumulative and additive. Each new experience would continuously modify, update, and blend into the past layers. We are the product of our aggregated past stored in a continuous collective stream of consciousness. Our behaviors, preferences, and life smarts, and life circumstances are the synthesis of past trials and errors, successes and failures. It is by realizing our own repeating reality and recognizing our bias and subjectivity that we can defeat our afflicted intellectual conscious and instead face actual Reality with our innate Inner Light conscious and ultimately liberate ourselves from the Karmic cycle.
It is undeniable that I am shaped by my collective pasts and that my present preferences and aversions are the manifestations of previous experiences and circumstances. Sometimes, it is possible to pinpoint the origin of a present reaction and at other times it is impossible since it is not of a specific origin.
I have never liked the sounds of fireworks nor do I enjoy playing with fireworks. Their sounds make me feel uneasy. When I was a little, I remembered seeing what I thought was fireworks from the bedroom window. My so-called fireworks were in fact wartime shellings and missile attacks. My parents always protected me from these “fireworks” by pulling me to the ground then laying on top of me to shelter me from them. One afternoon a hissing gas grenade landed in our courtyard as I was playing outside, I remember the urgency of my mother pulling me indoors and immediately shutting the doors and windows. At an early age, my father ingrained into me to get away from the windows and keep low whenever I hear exploding firecrackers-like sounds. During the peace time as I grew older, I love the beauty of a firework show. For years, exploding, popping, hissing sounds remind me of all the feelings of an uncertainty in my childhood.
As I realize my own aversions to fireworks and firecrackers, I am at peace whenever I encounter them. I recognize them just as they are and appreciate their potential. I no longer react to them as shaped by my past memories. There are a myriad of memories in the conscious storehouse that automatically surface to color my world, as I face life. I am determined to experience life objectively, moment to moment, in the actual Reality rather in the world of my own subjective creation. I shine upon life circumstances with the Inner Light to see the one true Reality without my subjective color-tinted glasses. Living with Compassion, I face life with neutrality, so that I remain at inner peace no matter what life brings.
Reacting within a conscious neutrality, as circumstances come and go, shall prevent Karma from leaving its mark and further ensnaring me into the Karmic perpetuation. My present is simultaneously the product of my past and the creator of my future, as I continue the journey along my life path to reach my ultimate spiritual destination: Nirvana.
